A 40-Year Commitment to the Community
Our dedication to the Goodfellows charity is personal. The organization holds a special place in the heart of our firm’s founder, Rick Turner, who has been involved and served on the Board of Directors of this charity for four decades.
This longevity reflects a core belief: true community support is not just about writing a check; it's about sustained, hands-on commitment.
Coats, Boots, and Dignity for 1,200 Children
Every year, Goodfellows sets out to serve approximately 1,200 children, from toddlers taking their first steps to high schoolers navigating their social world.
These aren't just toys; we focus on providing:
- Warm winter coats
- Shirts and pants
- Durable boots and shoes
For an underprivileged child, having a new, warm coat or a reliable pair of boots is not just about comfort; it's about health, safety, and the dignity to walk into school ready to learn. Our office provides financial support to purchase these goods, ensuring the children are protected from the harsh winter elements.
The Magic of Christmas Eve Morning
While our firm provides significant financial backing, some of the most rewarding work is done by hand.
We host wrapping parties right here in the office, turning piles of clothing into beautifully wrapped gifts, an activity that brings our team and the community together. But the true magic happens early on Christmas Eve morning.
That is when we gather with dedicated community members to deliver the gifts, bringing the spirit of the season directly to the families we serve. It is a powerful reminder of why we serve DeKalb and Sycamore, and it remains one of our favorite volunteer activities of the entire year.
